Our client is an expanding, branch-based trade distribution business operating across the west of Scotland, with further branches opening over the next 12 months as part of a deliberate growth plan. It’s a business that’s scaling fast but still runs with a genuinely open-door culture — decisions get made quickly, ideas get heard regardless of where they come from, and as new branches open, so do real opportunities to build something and be rewarded for it, not just clock in and repeat.
This is a Trade Counter Sales role based at the Clydebank branch — one of the newer, still-growing sites, which means there’s real scope to make your mark rather than stepping into something already set in its ways. You’ll own the day-to-day relationship with trade and walk-in customers: pricing orders, solving problems on the spot, and building the kind of repeat business that keeps people coming back. You’ll also be trained on the company’s in-house design software, used to help customers visualise bespoke orders before they buy — full training given, no prior experience needed. With an open-door culture right up to ownership level, your ideas on how to grow the branch won’t get lost in layers of management.
You’re likely working in a customer-facing sales or trade counter role already — perhaps in a builders’ merchant, trade counter, or similar branch-based environment — and you’re good at it, but you want a bigger say in how a branch is run and a genuine stake in its success. You’re personable, driven, and comfortable talking to a wide range of customers, and you’re motivated by the idea of building something in a small, close-knit team rather than being one of many in a bigger operation. You don’t need direct product experience in this specific trade; what matters more is appetite, attitude, and the ability to learn quickly on the job.
Up to £30,000 basic salary, with realistic on-target earnings of up to £8,000 on top through a team-based monthly bonus tied to branch performance. As the branch grows, so does the earning opportunity and your influence over how it’s run — a genuine chance to build something you have a real stake in, not just a job on a counter.
