Our client is part of a privately-owned group with annual revenues in excess of £500m. The group owns and operates a number of distribution companies that service niche vertical markets, with each having a regional network of locations across the UK. Each company has its own management structure reporting into the board. As a result, career progression opportunities, even at a local level are high as promotion to more senior roles can be attained from one group business to another.
You’ll already have some commercial experience, most likely in a sales or similarly commercially biased role within construction or an associated industry. You’ll have an understanding of the B2B market within the sector in relation to routes to market between manufacturers and distributors through to end-users.
It is likely that you’re nearly ready for a managerial role but still need some experience and development in order to grow into this type of position.
Each regional location within the business employs a Business Manager who has complete autonomy over the strategic direction and day-to-day management of the business. The company has created a new role for an Assistant Business Manager (ABM) who will float between 2 or 3 branches providing project-based support to the BMs on a day to day basis. You can expect a very varied and interesting work-load that adds value to the business whilst at the same time equips you with the skills and experience to one-day run your own business unit. It is a fantastic opportunity to build a career within a business that can access to senior level management roles at a local level.
